Seven acres and a pond
by Kim Walters
We are so happy here
seven acres and a pond
our early years are nearly gone
we live we learn we grow
we change
the water is not the same
but we are still
they might never understand
they might never see as I see
as you see
who cares?
I have all that I need
all that I expected
more than I allowed myself to believe
seven acres and a pond
and you, my wild child
poking holes in the soil for pleasure
patient with seeds
patient with me
if not patient with time
not simple but never dull
never too much, thank god
we could not survive that
you need more
I need more
but for now it seems
not more than
seven acres and a pond
seven acres and a pond
our early years are nearly gone
we live we learn we grow
we change
the water is not the same
but we are still
they might never understand
they might never see as I see
as you see
who cares?
I have all that I need
all that I expected
more than I allowed myself to believe
seven acres and a pond
and you, my wild child
poking holes in the soil for pleasure
patient with seeds
patient with me
if not patient with time
not simple but never dull
never too much, thank god
we could not survive that
you need more
I need more
but for now it seems
not more than
seven acres and a pond
